RC (Reverse Circulation) Drilling is similar to air core drilling in that the cuttings are returned to the surface through an inner tube and collected for later use.
The drilling mechanism is a pneumatic reciprocating piston known as a hammer driving a tungsten carbide button drill bit to drill a borehole into the stratum.
In RC Drilling, compressed air is pumped into a side inlet, blown down the outer shell of a dual-wall pipe and drives the hammer and bit to crush the rock.
Once the air hits the drill bit, it flushes and cools the bit, and also creates a pressure different that forces the air and cuttings up the center of the drill string
and into the inner tube. Air and drilling cutting are then passed through the inner rod and sucked back up, through the top drive and into a cyclone sampler.
Then, the rock and water are separated by the cyclone at the top, and the rock is deposited in a sample collection container.
STAROCKDRILL has RC Hammers ranging from 3.5 to 10 inch, which are highly utilized in mineral exploration, and the most commonly used sizes are 4 to 6 inches.
